OUR TRAPPING GLUES

DESIGNING JUST THE RIGHT GLUE TRAP FOR YOUR NEEDS

When a consumer goes to the store to buy a glue trap, they might not realize the many variables that have been considered in the design and production of that trap. People think it’s just glue on cardboard that will capture their problem pests. But there are so many factors that go into making sure a trap will work for its intended use! And we can help you figure out what you do and don’t need to ensure that what you want will work for you. Let us help you figure out things such as:

What kind of glue do I need?

How long does it need to stay tacky? Will it be exposed to UV light? Does it need to hold a rodent or an insect? How much glue do you need on it and where should it be on the board?

What material should my trap be made of?

What kind of environment will it primarily be used in? Indoor? Outdoor? Humid? Damp? Wet? How thick should the substrate be?

What color should my trap be?

Do you need a trap to blend in to a certain environment? Do you need it to stand out? Do you need to attract a certain type of insect?

Do I need grid lines?

Will your trap be used for monitoring? Will the filled board be counted? By hand or by app?

Do I need a pheromone?

In the glue? A separate lure?

These are just a few of the things that need to be considered when designing the right board for the job. Our many years of experience, testing, along with a network of experts such as entomologists and professional PCO’s allow us to help you figure out the best choices from a menu of available options!

OUR TRAPPING GLUES

All of our glues have been specially formulated, and extensively tested, for pest specific catch and usage environment functionality.  Our glues consistently outperform our competition with regards to length of UV stability, catch quantity, and strength of hold.

In most of our glues, we are able to add fragrances to assist in pest attraction or for aesthetic purposes. In some cases, we are also able to add a pheromone lure into the glue to eliminate the need for an individual fiber, rubber, or wool lure.

We utilize Hot-Melt Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives. Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives (PSA) are tacky at room temperature. There is no need to utilize heat to activate, which for us means all of our flylight glueboards can be utilized in both LED and fluorescent UV-A lights without needing different boards for each type of light.

Currently, we have standard glues designed specifically for:

  • Rodent Catch
  • Crawling Insects
  • UV Stable Flylight
  • Flying Insects
  • Spotted Lanternfly
  • Soft Brushable

As part of our ongoing continuous improvement process of continually developing and testing new adhesives, with the goal of even better performance at a lower cost, we have well developed relationships in the adhesives marketplace, and can leverage those relationships to assist our customers in developing even more sub-specific or exclusive formulas to meet their individual needs.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SUBSTRATE

Our most common substrates for our glue products are SBS board, Milk Carton, and PVC.

We commonly recommend using SBS board for rodent traps that go into devices, such as monitoring stations or tin cat style boxes. These boards are protected from environmental factors such as humidity, so SBS is a great choice for these types of traps. SBS is also a great choice for indoor spider traps, pantry moth traps, clothing moth traps, or other traps commonly used in the home by the consumer. SBS is also an effective option for Insect Light Trap glueboards that are not subjected to damp environments. SBS is the most environmentally friendly material of our standard offerings.

Our signature material, we recommend Milk Carton stock for traps that will be exposed to humid or damp environments, as this is a poly coated material which provides a water-resistant trap. This material is widely used in the professional pest control industry, as this material holds up great in commercial locations such as kitchens, hospitals, warehouses, and basements. The majority of rodent and flylight glueboards we manufacture use this material. Because we purchase such large quantities, we are able to offer products made with Milk Carton for the same price as standard SBS board. Being able to use this in both dry and wet environments gives it extra versatility. Over the years, we have found that customers prefer to use a glueboard in this material instead of using the plastic glue trays commonly seen used in damp and humid environments. The material holds up just as well, at a lower price point, and is a more environmentally friendly material.

PVC is the go to choice for boards being used in extremely wet environments, such as greenhouses or long-term outdoor use. PVC is also a good choice for those looking to make a decorative choice due to the ability to provide different levels of opacity.
