Sticky Science in Action!
A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Our Teach Us Tuesday Takeover
At Web-Cote, we’ve always said glue traps are more than just sticky surfaces—they’re strategic pest control tools with real behavioral intelligence behind them. In the right hands (and placed in the right locations), a glue trap becomes a window into pest movement, habits, and hidden patterns.
So when it came time to explore how glue traps support Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, we teamed up with a trusted voice in the industry: Dr. Stuart (Doc) Mitchell, BCE, Integrated Life Sciences Subject Matter Expert at PestWest USA.
We recently had the pleasure of collaborating with Doc on two educational and content-rich projects:
- An IPM flyer that explains how glue traps contribute to long-term pest control strategy
- A special Teach Us Tuesday Takeover across LinkedIn and Facebook, focused on glue trap placement, interpretation, and actionable IPM data
Let’s take a look at how it all came together.
Making the Case for Glue Traps in IPM
This collaboration began with the development of an educational IPM flyer—a visual piece designed to help pest management professionals (PMPs) better understand the role glue traps play in assessment-based pest control, from early detection to species identification.
The flyer was created for the International IPM Symposium in San Diego, where Susan Masciarelli, President & CEO of Web-Cote, distributed printed copies to attendees. It served as a conversation starter—and a reminder that glue traps are not just passive tools, but critical components of a modern IPM toolkit.
With Doc’s scientific expertise and our product knowledge, the flyer outlines how glue traps help:
- Monitor pest thresholds
- Guide root cause analysis
- Measure control efficacy
- Support long-term decision-making
It’s an excellent resource for IPM teams looking to reinforce best practices—and also works well as a leave-behind for customer education.
Teach Us Tuesday Gets a Guest Professor
From there, we took things further with a Teach Us Tuesday Takeover—our first guest-led feature in the series. On April 15, Doc brought his signature blend of scientific clarity and practical insight to the topic:
The Science Behind Placement & Catch Patterns
The post featured a 4-slide carousel and explored:
- How environmental factors like airflow, light, and temperatureaffect trap interaction
- Why glue traps function as behavioral surveillance devices
- How to interpret captured data using the “3 Diagnostic Ds”:
- Direction
- Distribution
- Density
For IPM professionals, this content reframes the glue trap as a biosensor—a tool that collects real behavioral data, not just pests.

New to Teach Us Tuesday?
Teach Us Tuesday is Web-Cote’s weekly educational series featuring quick insights, quirky facts, and expert tips related to pest management and glue traps. It’s hosted by our very own Webster—a mouse with a curious mind, a love for learning, and a surprising knack for behavioral ecology.
Follow us on LinkedIn and Facebook every Tuesday for new posts, guest contributions, and the occasional pest-related pun. 🐭🎓
The Value of Collaboration in Pest Control
This project was a great reminder of what happens when different parts of the industry come together. When subject matter experts like Doc partner with manufacturers like Web-Cote, we don’t just create content—we support real learning, smarter strategies, and more effective IPM practices.
We’re proud to help drive industry education forward. Whether it’s through product innovation or knowledge-sharing, we’re committed to equipping pest professionals with the tools—and the science—they need to succeed.
What’s Next?
This was our very first Teach Us Tuesday Takeover, but it certainly won’t be our last. We’re always looking for new ways to bring value to the pest control community through educational, engaging, and actionable content.
Have a topic you’d like us to explore? Want to collaborate on a future feature? Reach out—we’d love to hear from you.
Stay tuned—and stick with us.
From all of us at Web-Cote, a huge thank you to Dr. Stuart Mitchell and PestWest USA for lending their voice, time, and expertise to this project. It was a sticky-good collaboration in the best possible way.
